If cruising through Wynwood in Vespas to see murals seems stylish, then what about visiting the best examples of Miami Modern architecture in a limousine with leather seats, tinted windows and mirrored ceilings?

That’s what a tour by Miami historian Charles J. Kropke offers, according to British newspaper The Guardian. The trip takes visitors through examples of Miami Modern architecture in Miami Beach and then crosses over to mainland to visit the MiMo District, where about 12 motels, including the revamped New Yorker motel feature the futuristic 1950’s style.
The tour is so new the Guardian writer notes “one or two of the owners seem pleasantly surprised to see us.” And the tour’s route is not set in stone, it’s up to the person and Kropke to arrange. The Guardian writer left the MiMo District to visit the Biltmore hotel in Coral Gables, a different architectural style. Tours range between $65 and $85 per person. To find out more, contact Kropke.
